Located in the southeast section of the City, The Firefighters Museum of Calgary is devoted to Calgary's local fire fighting history. Managed by retired firefighters, this museum offers a personal look into the lives of past firefighters. Not only that but it also holds over three thousand fascinating artifacts such as 10 modern fire trucks and 3 classics, purchased by the City of Calgary in 1929. What is really interesting about these trucks is that they are in superb shape, still with shimmering brass and silver-plated fire nozzles. There are also over four hundred restored photographs, with one particular photo of the Calgary riot of 1917. The Firefighters Museum of Calgary is a perfect place for school trips as well as family outings.
