Calgary Tower - Calgary Tour Guide  Back to Calgary Tour Guide

Calgary Tower PhotosWant to feel as though you’re standing in mid air above the beautiful city of Calgary? Take a step onto the Calgary Tower’s renowned 36 foot long and 4.5 foot wide glass floor which sits 525 feet above the ground! Not to worry, this platform was built to withstand the weight of two hippos! If that’s not enough to get your heart racing, the optical allusion of the Tower’s shaft is really neat—it looks as though it’s actually bending away from you! During the 88’ Olympics a natural gas cauldron was installed and burned throughout the 16 day event, making the tower itself the largest Olympic torch in the world! If you happen to be in Calgary during Canada Day or New Years Eve, you will see the magnificently lit torch for yourself. You’re guaranteed to experience the best of Calgary’s amazing view from atop the observation deck. No need to squint, there are several state of the art binoculars set up for you to peek through.

If you can’t get enough of the being on top of the world feeling, visit the Sky 360 restaurant for a breathtaking 360 degree view of the city while you dine! One of the best steak houses in Calgary just happens to be in the Calgary Tower. Ruth’s Chris Steak House, located on the second floor of the base of the tower offers prime steak, guaranteed to impress any steak connoisseur. While you’re enjoying your visit to the observation deck, mail a few postcards to your loved ones from the highest mail box in the world at the Spirit of Calgary retail shop, or visit the same store at the base of the tower where you’ll also find plenty of Canadian souvenirs and collectables to take home.  The Calgary tower is a must see for every tourist, it’s no wonder this remarkable attraction opens its doors to half a million tourists each year!
