In early February, this celebration commemorates the 1988 Winter Olympics and all the fun that can be had in winter. Music, entertainment and sports competitions fill up the majority of the 11 day festival. Bring your entire family and make it a day to remember! You’ll also enjoy children’s activities, a carnival and a dance. This is held at 11 634th Ave SW.
The Calgary Winterfest Community Events Program spreads the spirit of Calgary Winterfest throughout our city. Friends and neighbours come out of hibernation to celebrate winter and share in a variety of activities in their own communities. There are skating parties, carnivals, crafts and games, prizes and hot chocolate to warm chilly festival-goers.
Communities across the city celebrate snow and ice in their own special way as local community associations organize fun family-focused events ranging from winter carnivals, skating parties, pond hockey tournaments, bonspiels, dances and much more in this unique program which pays homage to our great Canadian winter. Families of all ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds come together for these enjoyable and accessible events designed for all Calgarians.
Kick-off the festivities at Fort Calgary’s Winterfest Carnival showcasing free family fun with just a touch of history. rogramming includes live performances, scavenger hunt, storytelling, games, crafts and other child-centered activities. Village Square Leisure Centre’s Multicultural Celebration rejoices in Calgary’s wonderful ethnicity with an afternoon of music, song and dance. The Family Day weekend just wouldn’t be the same without the always-popular Family Fun Zone at COP where action, fun and adventure are the words of the day and senior’s will once again have the opportunity to hearken back to “days gone by” with an afternoon of musical remembrances at Heritage Park’s consistently sold-out Seniors’ Follies.
